Recreation Services encourages personal growth and builds relationships through involvement in a variety of social events, classes, and physical activities.
Supported activities include the ARI Artists Initiative Classes, Aqua-Aerobics, Dinner Dances, Vacations, Bocce, Trips to Watch Local Sporting Events including the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Monthly Dinners, and much more. Members of ARI participate in community recreational groups including Challenged People in Motion Golf, Darien YMCA Funbusters, Special Olympics (including swimming, snow shoeing, bowling, and track & field), and much more. ARI also facilitates vacations including overnight stays at nearby destinations and week long vacations.

The last Bocce practice will take place on Tuesday, September 7th at Scalzi Park from 4:00-5:00pm. The Bocce Special Olympic’s Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 11th at 8am at Scalzi Park.
Aqua-Aerobics will begin on Wednesday, September 15th from 6:15-7:15pm at the Darien YMCA. Participants MUST sign up by contacting Gerard Gasparino at (203) 324-9258 ext. 3023 or email email@example.com.
The ARI Artists’ Initiative Class will begin on Thursday, September 2nd from 3:00-4:30pm. Participants will be able to work on their artwork. Class will be open to all interested. There will be NO art class on September 16th. Please note that we plan to have an opening reception for an ARI Art Show at the Mayor’s Gallery on this evening. More information will be sent. Golf practice will take place on Wednesday, September 1st and 8th at the Sterling Farms Golf Course driving range from 6:00-7:00pm. This is open to the first 10 people to RSVP each week. Please RSVP by the prior Monday.
ARI Fall Ball for Independence—Come One, Come All circus themed event will take place on Friday, October 1st at the Italian Center from 6:00-10:00pm. The cost for individuals receiving services and 1 chaperone is $75. $150 for other guests. MUST RSVP BY SEPTEMBER 15th! For more information, contact Gerard Gasparino.
