Afternoon at the Movies: On Saturday, August 9th, we will attend an afternoon movie at a local movie theatre. The tentative plan is to meet at the Stamford Town Center Food Court at 12pm for lunch, then head to the Bow Tie Cinemas to see a movie. Details to follow. Bring $10 for admission, plus approximately $10 for lunch. Please RSVP to Holly (contact information below) by Friday, August 8th if you plan to attend.
Arts & Crafts Group will meet at Palermo on Monday, August 11th from 3:30-5pm. There is no cost to participate.
Bowling will continue at Rip Van Winkle Lanes in Norwalk on Saturdays in August at 12pm. The cost is $3 per game and includes shoes. After bowling the group normally goes to lunch at a local restaurant (optional).
Thomson Bowling Party will take place on Thursday, August 21st from 4-6pm at Rip Van Winkle Lanes in Norwalk. There will be free bowling with food and drink served. This event is open to the first 25 clients to RSVP.
Ethnic Gourmet Cooking Club will take place every Tuesday in August from 2:30-4:30pm in the ARI Cafeteria. The class will learn skills to cook foods from various parts of the world. Cost: $5 per week. **Remember: Due to the large class size, we have divided the group into two sections. Section 1 will meet on August 5th and August 19th; Section 2 will meet on August 12th and August 26th. Contact Holly if you do not know which section you are in.
Golf with Challenged People in Motion will take place on Tuesdays or Wednesdays in August from 6:00-7:30pm at Sterling Farms Golf Course. It is free to attend. Golfers will learn how to play the game and will be treated to an awards party at the end of the season.
Ice Cream Social will be on Friday, August 22nd in the ARI Cafeteria from 6:00-7:30pm. Come enjoy some ice cream as summer comes to an end! Cost: $3.
Karaoke will take place in the ARI Cafeteria on Friday, August 8th from 6:00-7:30pm. Come sing your favorite songs! There is no cost to participate. Snacks and soda will be served.
Men’s & Women’s Night Out will take place on Friday, August 15th from 5:30-8pm. Catch up with friends over dinner at a local restaurant. The cost of this activity will range from $15 to $25, depending on the restaurant.
Playland Trip will take place on Friday, August 1st, leaving ARI at 5:30pm and returning by 11pm. Come out to the park and enjoy the rides and games! There will also be a big band concert (with dancing!) for those who are interested. We will end the night by viewing a fireworks display. Admission is free, but bring money (approximately $20) to play games, enjoy the rides, and eat dinner!
Special Olympics Bocce practice will continue each Thursday and Saturday in August. Practices are held at Scalzi Park. On Thursday, practice is from 3:00-4:30pm. On Saturday, practice is from 10:00-11:30am. You must be at least 40 years old to participate. **Note: There is no bocce practice on Thursday, August 21st.
Walking Club will continue on Mondays in August from 6-7pm at Scalzi Park. Meet by the bocce courts near the entrance. Join us for fitness and fun as we enjoy the summer weather together! Healthy snacks will be provided at the conclusion of our walk. There is no cost to participate.
